Jinzhe Zhang

Jinzhe Zhang is a conductor and educator focused on wind performance, instrumental
pedagogy, and cross-cultural artistic communication. He holds a master of music in
wind conducting from Illinois State University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of
Musical Arts in wind conducting at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music under the
mentorship of Travis J. Cross. In his graduate teaching assistantship role, he supports
the instruction and administration of the “Solid Gold Sound” UCLA Marching Band
under Justin McManus and assists the UCLA Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band.
Zhang is a member of the Beijing Musicians Association and Beijing Conductors
Association. Before joining UCLA, he served as director of bands at Chengdu
University, overseeing artistic programming, ensemble training, and intercollegiate
music collaboration.
