About Band Camp
All members of the UCLA Marching Band attend our annual Band Camp, marking the start of our fall season! Students living on campus will be allowed to move into their residence hall for the duration of Camp. Band Camp FAQs
If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to the directors, drum majors, or your section leadership!
What should I bring with me every day?
You should come prepared to each rehearsal block with your water bottle (labeled with your name), sunscreen (if outdoors), your phone, instrument/flag, and appropriate attire. For winds and percussion, music will be read directly from your phone. Please also remember any necessary prescription or rescue medications (e.g., inhalers, epi-pens).
Is attendance at all sessions mandatory?
Yes. In order to ensure all members are up to speed and prepared for the season, all members are expected to attend all sessions. Individual situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis and should be communicated as early as possible to the directors and your section staff.
What is the dress code for rehearsals?
Dress for the weather! Check the forecast before you come to the first rehearsal block of the day. Southern California temperatures can change drastically throughout the day.
Wear lightweight, breathable athletic clothing during the day. To prevent injury and ensure a uniform marching style, closed-toe athletic shoes with good arch support are mandatory—sandals or flip-flops are not permitted on the field. In the evenings, you may want to bring a quarter zip, hoodie, fleece, or other long-sleeve top.
Will meals be provided?
Meal information and logistics for both on-campus and off-campus students will be communicated to all members prior to Band Camp.
